POSITION SUMMARY: The Security Officer is responsible for providing an environment of safety and ensuring the security of our campus while providing excellent service. This position has a range of duties such as conducts patrols, investigates security concerns, and provides exceptional assistance. The Security Officer acts to ensure compliance with corporate and hospital policies, operates video systems, manages crisis situations, and participates in emergency and disaster events, among other duties. This position is located at the Divine Savior Healthcare campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct patrol rounds in buildings, checking in with staff.
Complete daily activity reports.
Assure nightly door locking is complete for all buildings at closing times.
Make necessary copies of reports as needed.
Post in locations to assist staff and observe for suspicious behaviors.
Respond to calls for assistance with aggressive/combative persons (patients and visitors).
Provide escorts for staff at change of shift or requested.
Respond to emergency codes and/or alarms.
Conduct exterior patrol checking security of doors and lots.
Be visible and act as a deterrent for criminal activity.
Research questions and problems from hospital and clinic departments.
Gather all required data to assist in investigations for law enforcement.
Provide traffic control or other security services during a disaster.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Diploma or GED
IAHSS Basic Training Course Certificate current or complete within 1 year of employment International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety certification
1-3 years related security experience or public safety training.
Proficient computer skills.
Reports directly to the Safety & Security Supervisor
Extensive contact with Nursing supervisor, switchboard operators, Emergency Department, Med Surg staff, and other patient care positions.
Occasional contact with patients, visitors, vendors and all other positions in any building on campus..
Work is performed largely in a pleasant hospital environment with minimal chance for personal injury.
Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Frequently required to walk and stand.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch.
Required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
Requires specific vision abilities for far vision, near vision, depth perception, colors, accommodation and peripheral vision.
Vision correctable to 20/40.
