POSITION SUMMARY: Performs scheduling duties for nursing departments ensuring appropriate staffing based on knowledge of needs. Prepares various types of documents using complex functions of a variety of computer applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with preparing and posting nursing department schedule.
Assists in contacting and scheduling extra staff to meet staffing requirements and to cover for staff call-ins.
Accurately types and prepares correspondences and forms as requested.
Supports director in the submission and recording of bi-weekly payroll data. Maintains individual attendance and vacation records for staff.
Collects daily data for MESH patient classification system and assists with preparing reports.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
One to three years clerical or secretarial experience or training.
Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
Types with accuracy.
Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
Reports directly to the Nursing Director of the department.
Works closely with other Nursing Directors and Human Resources.
Occasional contact with public, community agencies and regional hospitals.
Work is performed largely in a hospital or nursing home environment with minimal chance for personal injury.
The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Frequently required to sit and stand.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch.
Required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
Requires specific vision abilities for far vision, near vision, depth perception, colors, accommodation and peripheral vision.
Vision correctable to 20/40.
