We are seeking a PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN in Wausau, WI at Aspirus Wausau Hospital who is a member of the patient care team and is responsible for assisting with providing patient care under the general direction of a Registered Nurse.


  • Knowledge of patient care standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a nursing assistant course beneficial.
  • Graduation from an accredited program for Health Unit Coordinators, or training/education to meet job requirements beneficial.
  • One year of experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting beneficial.
  • CCHT (Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Tech) certification, or obtained within 18 months of hire. This includes continuing education credits/CEUs needed to maintain applicable certification.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of principles of aseptic techniques.
  • Possesses knowledge and ability to implement emergency, fire, and disaster protocols.
  • Possesses knowledge and ability to implement safe and effective infection control procedures in accordance with the unit's policies and procedures.
  • Possesses knowledge of and utilizes the occurrence reporting system in accordance with guidelines set forth by the unit.
  • Demonstrates competence in basic computer skills.

Hours: Full time Benefit package available72 Hours every 2 weeks, Day Shift, rotating weekends/holidays. During flu season there will be a rotation of call schedule as needed.

The hospital has an average daily inpatient census of 160 with approximately 15,000 admissions per year. Outpatient visits exceed 50,000 and there are also more than 24,000 annual emergency department visits.
