POSITION SUMMARY: Performs scheduling duties for the following nursing departments: Med Surg, ICU and Mobile Unit and ensures appropriate staffing based on knowledge of needs. Prepares various types of documents using complex functions of a variety of computer applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares and posts nursing department schedules.
Assists in contacting and scheduling extra staff to meet staffing requirements and to cover for staff call-ins.
Collects daily data for MESH patient classification system and assists with preparing reports.
Handles the ordering of supplies for Med Surg.
Reviews all charges for Med Surg.
Create orientation schedules and orientation binders for new staff.
Suite Scheduler orientation for new staff.
First person for Cardio version scheduling.
Set up appointments for Outpatient Infusion patients.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
1+ years clerical or secretarial experience or training.
Previous scheduling experience is preferred .
C.N.A is preferred, but not required.
Types with accuracy.
Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
Reports directly to the Nursing Director of the department.
Works closely with other Nursing Directors, as well as other unit Directors and nursing staff.
Occasional contact with public, community agencies and regional hospitals.
Work is performed largely in a hospital or nursing home environment with minimal chance for personal injury.
The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Frequently required to sit and stand.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch.
Required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
Requires specific vision abilities for far vision, near vision, depth perception, colors, accommodation and peripheral vision.
Vision correctable to 20/40.
