POSITION SUMMARY: Supports the IT Department by resolving basic end user issues. Appropriately delegates more complex issues to other IT staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Acts as initial contact person for IT Help Desk inquiries.
  2. Resolves help desk issues for all staff; requests assistance and coordinates services involving other IT staff as necessary.
  3. Manages helpdesk ticketing system; prioritizes reported issues appropriately based on department standards.
  4. Troubleshoots all software, hardware, networking and telephone problems using techniques to isolate problems quickly.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge about network paths and is able to assist users in locating network folders or programs as required.
  6. Maintain department documentation.
  7. Assists IT staff with various collaborative projects (systems maintenance, updates, IP telephone, email, etc.).
  8. Performs other duties as assigned


Educational Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with additional coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • Degree from an accredited Information Technology, Computer Science or related program preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computer and equipment operation is required.
Work Relationship:
  • Reports directly to the IT Director.
  • Extensive contact with all nursing, ancillary and clinical department directors.
  • Due to the nature of the position, has regular contact with almost all employees of the hospital and clinic.
  • Occasional contact with vendors.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed largely in a pleasant hospital environment with minimal chance for personal injury. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Some overnight travel required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently required to sit and stand.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
  • Requires specific vision abilities for far vision, near vision, depth perception, colors, accommodation and peripheral vision.
  • Vision correctable to 20/40.
