POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for accounting functions with the Organization. Assists with annual audit, Medicare Cost Report, and various accounting projects. Uses accounting skills and computer skills, such as Excel and Word, to perform assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for handling accounting transactions and associated work papers for various accounts based on current needs of the organization.
  2. Assists with month end processes for all systems as needed.
  3. Assists with preparation of all required reporting to the Board and outside agencies as appropriate: including (but not limited to): Medicare Cost Report, budget, monthly/quarterly financial statements, audit, survey data, and contract data.
  4. Assists DSH leaders (including Administration and Department Directors) providing support for projects, data as needed.
  5. Coordinates various reporting mechanisms to ensure leaders have the best data analytics. Provides supporting trend data on an ongoing basis.
  6. Monitors operational and productivity goals and objectives to ensure targeted improvement.

  8. Prepares necessary accounting or fiscal related spreadsheets and analysis required to monitor and sustain operational initiatives.
  9. Participates in the on-going consultation and support to leadership related to significant variances.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • 1-3 years related experience or training preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools including advanced Excel skills.

Work Relationship:
  • Reports directly to the Director of Finance.
  • Extensive contact with Director of Finance and other positions in fiscal services.
  • Occasional contact with patients, vendors and all other positions in the hospital.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed largely in a pleasant hospital environment with minimal chance for personal injury.
  • Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently required to sit and stand.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds of department supplies and equipment.
  • Requires specific vision abilities for far vision, near vision, depth perception, colors, accommodation and peripheral vision.
  • Vision correctable to 20/40.
